This is a fun stop-motion from Carrotkid (Paul Whittington) of OrangeCore Films based out of Vancouver. Android 207 features an android who is trapped in a mysterious maze which features danger at every turn. The design is zany, but the aesthetic is very smart; the look of the maze and its controls combined with the grain and effects of the B&W film work perfectly in subliminally setting up the disturbing twist. At 9 minutes long the middle drags slightly, but the attentive viewer will piece meaning out of the various obstacles the android faces.

Carrotkid has carpetbombed the UGC video sites, and as a result I found OpenFilm, a relatively young community. Like Vimeo, all content has to be self-created, and the HD resolution is amazing. Plus, 50/50 splits with creators! Quite a find if it can build itself up, I’m going to have to keep an eye out for OpenFilm.
