If you’re a reader of our newsletter, formerly known as Shorts Weekly, you’ve probably noticed some changes.
After three years publishing Shorts Weekly on Beehiiv, we’ve moved to Substack—and with the move, retired the Shorts Weekly name and returned to simply Short of the Week.
Please read our debut Substack issue to learn a little more about the motivation behind the switch. Three weeks in, we’re happy to report it’s going well! Deliverability seems dependable, and the locals in the Substack community have treated us warmly.
Not Receiving Short of the Week?
Whenever you switch services, some hiccups are to be expected. If you regularly received Shorts Weekly but haven’t gotten our new Substack editions, check your spam folder. The most recent newsletter was sent Oct 2.
As part of the transition, we also pruned our email list of inactive users, so there is a chance you were removed. If so, sorry! Jump back in via the sign-up box below.
Finally, as remote a possibility as it is, there’s a chance you haven’t ever received our newsletter. If that’s you, you should rectify that.
In just our first few weeks on Substack, we’ve looked back at our long history with filmmaker Lance Oppenheim as he enters a huge moment in his career; dug into the race to establish definitions and standards for AI filmmaking; and used the return of the Bite Size horror anthology for a little detour into corporate consolidation and the strange journey of a short-film franchise.
That’s alongside our regular aggregation of notable news and ideas, things worth watching, and the latest S/W selections. Think of it as a quick, content-rich dive into our curation team’s brains as we parse the internet for things pertinent to short film creators and fans.
You can read the newsletter’s About page for our fancy explication of purpose—or just check it out for yourself.
