Whilst many fans of short film love the format for its ability to make us laugh or cry, what often goes unrecognised is the power these bitesize stories hold to truly stimulate the mind. From a bloody pact with a dying wolf to the unveiling of an urban mystery, our Think nominees are the film that made us contemplate and debate throughout the last year.

Experimental about Life & Society in Live-Action
During an opulent and luxurious banquet, complete with cavalier servers and valets, eleven pampered guests participate in what appears to be a ritualistic gastronomic carnage. In this absurd and grotesque universe, an unexpected sequence of events undermines the endless symphony of abundance.

Drama about Art in Live-Action

Documentary about Perseverence in Live-Action
Brian McGinn / 24 min / USA
Ashrita Furman holds the official record for the most Guinness World Records by one individual. This is his story.
Honorable Mention

Centring around stories from beyond the grave, this omnibus of animated shorts from the Late Night Work Club collective not only proved to be one of the most anticipated short film events in the last year, but also an innovative exploration of collaboration and distribution. A mixture of animation styles and storytelling approaches, this 38-minute anthology was a huge success as both a showcase of talent and unified piece of media. Leaving creators and curators, like Short of the Week, to ponder the merits of collaborative filmmaking.

Horror about Other Worlds in Animation
Late Night Work Club, a collective comprised of the most promising minimalist animators on the internet, releases their first project—an omnibus of shorts that tell stories from the great beyond.

    How long is voting open for before the results are final?
    I’d love to have seen them all for each category before I vote but I’m a little behind with my viewing so hopefully voting is possible for a while!
