Short of the Week

Gulp

The “World’s Largest Stop Motion” Gulp is Aardman Animation and Nokia’s followup to the hit branded film “Dot”.

The latest branded short to roll out from Nokia, Gulp is a followup of sorts to the popular film Dot which has been hailed as “the world’s smallest stop-motion” by Nokia, Aardman Animation and Portland’s Wieden + Kennedy, the agency behind the campaign. For symmetry’s sake, Gulp is, naturally, filmed “on the world’s largest stop-motion set”. The result is pretty neat, though the story, a Jonah-style adventure of a fisherman getting caught in a belly of a giant fish is pretty “meh”. The most entertaining part might just be the behind the scenes video afterwards. At less than 2min long, see what you think.
