Now that we’ve kicked off our new series with Oktapodi, we’ve got a bunch of great student stuff coming your way. Believe me, it’s already cued up in WordPress. But first, if you don’t mind, a brief digression. Today marked the reappearance of one of my favorite online blog series, /Film’s, “Big Directors Small Films”, which hadn’t had a new posting in the year 2009, so I want to share.

The series highlights short films made by big-time feature film directors, and this time out its a recent 2007 effort by the Coen Bros.—part of an anthology film called Chacun son Cinema which celebrated Cannes 60th anniversary. The film is about 3 minutes and is very simple, yet delightful in how it subtly skewers the pretensions and prejudices of sophisticated film goers (especially French ones I imagine!). Give it a go.
