Short of the Week

‘Verse

A creation myth with a modern spin as a simple yet sophisticated animation.

The man behind one of our favorite shorts, the bizarre yet brilliant Abigail, has more for the world. Tony Comley’s latest, ‘Verse, is his own version of a creation myth. It begins similar to other myths, but Tony continues the story up to the pessimism of modern day. Created entirely within three weeks for the Artist in Residence program at the University of Wales, Newport with help from the students.

Andrew makes no attempt to hide his love for the magic art of animation. He appreciates compelling visuals but never forgets that in this modern age, a strong story always reigns supreme. You can see his work at andrewsallen.com or his latest film The Thomas Beale Cipher.
