Yours Truly

Wild ride through cut and pasted scenes in a mashup of old Hollywood and miniatures.

Osbert Parker has been one of the UK’s prize jewels. His two famous short films, Film Noir and Yours Truly have won awards across the world due to his innovative collage and stop-motion techniques reminscent of Widrich’s 2003 hit Fast Film (a film deserving to be featured itself). This mixture of styles brings him attention, but it is his dark, hardboiled plots, which borrow liberally both the atmosphere and the characters of famous film noir’s past, which has made the films beloved.

Yet until now Parker’s films have not been online, nor available on DVD. Vimeo is housing a copy of Your Truly currently though, albeit with Spanish subtitles. Watch it immediately, who knows how long it will be around!

UPDATE: No longer available. Watch the excerpt.

Sondhi approaches films from the perspective of an uber-fan, knowledgeable film academic, and occasional filmmaker. His tendency to over-think his film criticisms is due to a background in Philosophy, but he is putting useless intellectualizing aside for this site.

I really love Parker’s films. Film Noir is equally great.
