Short of the Week

34x25x36

An examination of beauty as seen through the eyes of mannequin manufacturers.

Third film in in a series on body image by acclaimed director Jesse Epstein. This short film follows Wet Dreams and False Images and The Guarantee in probing societies perverse obsession with physical perfection. This time Jesse takes her camera into a mannequin factory to uncover the making of the “perfect woman”.

Not at all clinical or TLC-lite, the film mixes medias and utilizes a new hypnotic soundtrack  heard on this YouTube version to create a lyrical meditation on the building process: including an interesting take by the manufacturer on the purpose of creating the unattainable.
